SAGRADO CORAZON

I’ll be the first to tell you the tattooers of ERTC are lovers of tradition and tried and true methods, we’re definitely not avant garde in our tattooing and favour a more classic approach. The shop itself however has found a voice of its own over the years, mostly due to the thousands who have opened their hearts to it and carried it into it’s current state of being more of a social club than just a place that renders a service. The shop presents something classic in a radical way, it has a life of its own and it’s always clear what it’s asking for next.

To celebrate our fourth year here we wanted to open our door to our community and enjoy the place in a way we hadn’t yet. We wanted to stand in what we’ve built together and celebrate friendships over some good food, drinks, live music and the thing that brings us all together under this roof…the artwork. The time was right to host our first art show, and we’d do it for charity.

After consulting our shop community we decided we would work with Bethesda House right here in Bowanville. An amazing organization doing the real hands on work to combat gender based violence, we’re proud to say with the help of our good friends Chronicle Brewery we raised $4630 for their cause. We’ve made new friends in this organization and look forward to working with them in the future.

It’s all in the books now and added to the many fond memories of the shop. It was refreshing to make something informed by tattooing but have the freedom to create something new, without the tolerances that every craft is bound by. Thank you to the amazing artists that contributed to the show, we have all the love and respect for you. To all the bidders who put those numbers up and everyone that stopped in to hang with us, you all have a home here at 53 King St.

Happy fourth birthday to this gnarly tattoo shop with a life of it’s own, built by the people.
